Establishment of the Institute:

The Higher Institute for Tourism, Hotels and Restoration was established by Ministerial Resolution No. 1435 of 2000, and 618 of 2001, and the Supreme Council of Universities Resolution No. (46) was issued on 28/2/2012 to equalize the bachelor's degree in Tourism Guidance granted by the Institute with a bachelor's degree in Tourist Guidance granted by Egyptian universities and Resolution No. (45) dated 3/3/2019 to equalize the bachelor's degree granted by the Institute in the following disciplines (tourism studies - hotel studies) subject to the Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972 and its executive regulations from Faculties of Tourism and Hotels.

Institute Departments

The Institute awards a bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hotels in the following disciplines and divisions:

Department of Tourism Guidance:

It aims to graduate students familiar with the various knowledge related to history, archeology and civilization of Egypt through the ages, as well as the basic tourism knowledge that allows students to work in the field of guidance and dealing with tourists.

Department of Hospitality Management:

It is one of the specializations of tourism and hotel management that focuses on the management of hospitality operations with a wide range of activities and fields in the service sector including; hotels, air and marine hospitality which includes the following specializations (hotel management - restaurant management - air and marine hospitality services management - culinary arts management - customer services).

Department of Tourism Studies:

It aims to graduate students familiar with the knowledge and skills required for the local and regional tourism labor market and includes specializations (tourism business management - shipping companies management - special events management - airlines management - sports events management).

Department of Tourism and Hospitality

  • High school with its two divisions and its equivalent from the national and international certificates.
  • Azhar High Schools.
  • Commercial System schools (3 and 5 years).
  • Diploma of Technical Institutes (commercial and secretarial).
  • Hotels Secondary School and Diploma in Management and Services.
  • Agricultural Secondary School Diploma.
  • The student is enrolled in the second year according to specialization:
    • Diploma of Tourist Secondary Schools and hotels with a 5 years system.
    • Diploma of EGOTH Schools of the Ministry of Tourism.
    • Diploma of Hotel Institutes with a 5 years system.
    • Diploma of Hotel Technical Institutes.

Department of Tour Guidance

  • High school with its two divisions and its equivalent from the national and international certificates.
  • Azhar High Schools.

Certifications & Accreditations

The study duration at the institute is four years, as the decision of the Universities Supreme Council includes granting graduates of the institute a bachelor's degree in Commerce, Department of Business Administration, Division of Management Information Systems (in Arabic / English) equivalent to the degree of Bachelor of Commerce granted by Egyptian universities. The student is granted a certificate approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Universities Supreme Council. By the equivalency decision, graduates of the Institute have the right to enroll in the Commercial Syndicate, register postgraduate studies in Egyptian and foreign universities, and apply to military colleges for specialized officers.

Staff members:

- The institute has distinguished teaching staff in different scientific specializations which are related to tourism and hotels field of specialization , in addition to a selected group of staff assistants who include teaching assistants and assistant lectures.

- The teaching staff members have prominent scientific contributions at international research magazines, in their fields of specialization.

Unit of Training and Graduate Affairs:

Unit of training and graduate affairs was launched in year ---- , as the institute is permanently concerned with developing the level of students and graduates and providing them with the required skills, knowledge and experience in a number of specializations, to make them able to create and compete at the national and the local job market. Also, following up graduates and students through their professional performance measures and reflects the scientific and the practical position of the institute. The training unit aims at achieving the institute’s strategy for developing students’ technical, practical and cognitive skills through its training unit, that is achieved by a number of developed and advanced training activities which raise the abilities and the skills of institute students, and also transferring experience and preparing technical staff who are able to perform the tasks of their future jobs perfectly, while creating a new generation of outstanding leaders who are qualified for the job market and matching the technological development in their specialization field, in addition to providing suitable employment opportunities, in coordination and cooperation with related companies and industrial authorities in the field of specialization.
